The Family and Youth Institute (The FYI) is a 501(c)3 not for profit research and education institute dedicated to strengthening young people and their families. The FYI focuses on innovative research and community education to achieve its objective. The FYI invites exceptional undergraduate and graduate students from diverse educational backgrounds and with a strong desire to help strengthen young people and their families to its summer internship program. Interns must exhibit professionalism and attention to detail, as well as strong team-work, organizational, and communication skills. The internship positions are part-time, unpaid, and virtual.

The FYI is specifically seeking interns in these categories: Graphic Design, Marketing & Social Media, as well as Research.

Graphic Design Intern

This internship is designed to give individuals hands on experience in graphic design in non-profit and public health settings. Intern(s) will work closely with individuals from varying FYI teams, including but not limited to:  research, community education, and social media to develop visually attractive, impactful, content for diverse audiences and mediums (e.g. print, social media, website, etc). Interns will produce content that will educate audiences across print, electronic, and film media allowing exploration and usage of multiple creative methods such as color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques.

Marketing & Social Media Intern(s)

This internship is designed to give individuals hands on experience in developing business strategy, marketing, and social media management skills. Intern(s) will learn to plan comprehensive and effective educational and business projects and campaigns as well as execute and assess the effectiveness of their plans. Multiple methods and platforms will be used with a heavy emphasis on social media. In addition, interns will also learn to engage, listen to, and communicate with a variety of audiences, with a special emphasis on the American Muslim community.

Behavioral Research Intern(s)

This internship is designed to give individuals a broad exposure to a clinical research environments. Interns will support the exciting team of researchers engaging in original, ground breaking research on strengthening American Muslim youth and their families. Interns will gain diverse research and writing experience through hands on experience with current research projects (research design, recruitment, or data management), manuscript preparations, grant writing, and/or disseminating research to the community-. The Interns will be assigned to one of 4 areas of research (based on intern request):Youth, Marriage,  Parenting, & Mental health.
