Sarrah AbuLughod is the Community Engagement Manager at The Family and Youth Institute. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor’s in Human Development & Family Studies and has a Master’s from Hartford Seminary in Religious Studies and is currently working on a certificate in Islamic Chaplaincy.

Sarrah has worked in youth development in one capacity or another for the past 15 years whether it be as a camp counselor with the Girl Scouts of America or a weekend teacher with the Saturday Environmental Academy in Washington, DC. She currently volunteers as a Qur’an teacher at the Islamic Study Center in Charlottesville, VA. She also served on the board of both the Green Muslims and the Next Wave Muslim Initiative and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at a DC Youth Service Center (juvenile detention facility) and she currently serves on the board of The Stony Point Center as well as on the board of Virginia Interfaith Power and Light.
