Zakia Haque is the Development Officer at The Family and Youth Institute. She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Psychology and Cognitive Science and has a Master’s degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago.

Zakia previously worked as the Grants Manager at NAMI DuPage, a mental health advocacy organization in the Western suburbs of Chicago. Prior to that, Zakia worked in Nashville, Tennessee as a Grant Writer for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, raising funds for the domestic violence advocacy program housed within the Family Law unit at the Legal Aid Society. Zakia currently serves as Vice-Principal with the Dar-ul-Huda Sunday School in Charlottesville and volunteers with the masjid-based Girl Scout troop.

Originally from the Chicago area, Zakia relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia in 2015, where she currently resides with her husband and three daughters.
