Wafaa Ateyah is a Graduate Student Researcher and Project Manager for iBelong with The Family and Youth Institute. She is also currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Florida. She received her B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Women’s Studies with a minor in Health Disparities in Society. Wafaa’s main interests are in research, clinical, and community work. Her current research interests revolve around the psychosocial factors that influence youth and/or emerging adult identity development and wellness and overall Muslim youth mental health. Fueling her research interests, Wafaa is also a community organizer with a passion for youth empowerment and creating safe and affirming spaces for youth to grow, establish, and strengthen their identities. In her spare time, Wafaa enjoys teaching at her local masjid, leading youth groups and events for young Muslim women in her community, archery, and lifting at the gym.
